Since our last update, the Lord has continued to bless us. We have completed all of our dossier paperwork, USCIS paperwork, and received our Favorable Determination Letter (FDL). We are currently in the waiting period, where we receive regular updates from our agency on the reports from Hannah’s Hope, and our updated position on our list. At present time, we are unofficially #68 on the girls list (started at #91) and unofficially #31 on the siblings list (began at #44), we are still awaiting official numbers.
Some new opportunities have been placed in our path over the past several weeks that have helped keep us encouraged through this long journey. We recently spoke with a good friend about her travels to Western Africa. She provided us an interesting perspective on the beautiful culture and shared with us her many photographs and stories of her amazing life changing trip. We recently began receiving our subscription to Adoptive Families as well, which has been a vast resource of information and provides great advice for when we receive our little Bella. In addition, we were recently approved to join our agencies listserv, which has already overwhelmed us with an amazing opportunity to speak directly with those previously and currently involved with our agency. I am positive that the members will help reveal a world of knowledge and provide a key resource for any questions that may come up along the way. More importantly, several members who are within a radius of our home and will hopefully become lifelong opportunities for our family to connect with others like ourselves have already contacted us.
We have been also working with Heidi’s students on planning a new fundraising opportunity that is quickly approaching, Breakfast for Bella, which is an all-you-can-eat pancake fundraiser on March 26th. It will certainly be a fun filled event! We plan to provide raffle baskets and face painting for the kiddos. Due to a limited number of seating available, we created tickets for the event and have been seeing a steady number of people requesting tickets. We continued to be blessed by all of those who have reached out to use over the past year to provide a word of encouragement or helped donate to our events.
We have also been busy recently with many things to help keep our journey moving forward, including seeking a new place of worship. In the past few weeks we have been through the spectrum of congregations and witnessed many pluses and minuses to each. In the sermon last week, it was said that God did not intend our ship to go left, then right, then left again, but instead straight ahead staying on course and weathering the storms of life. We continue to stay on course in our faith in the Lord that he will make all things in life happen according to his plan, and timing. The waiting period is one that can be challenging and discouraging on the best of days, but we must trust in the Lord in all we do. We continue to pray for all of Africa and our agencies members, our little blessing(s), and all of those involved.
The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him.
